How we work

A clear path from first enquiry to written engagement.

Every relationship follows the same steps, in the same order. Conflict review and a written engagement letter come before advice — never after. Here's what to expect at each stage.

Stage 01

Enquiry

You send a short request. We collect only what's needed to route it and run a preliminary conflict check — nothing sensitive yet.

  • Your name and how to reach you
  • Business name and a broad matter category
  • A short, general summary of what you're dealing with
  • Any known opposing or related party names, for conflict screening

What not to send: no documents, financial or ID details, detailed facts, or privileged strategy at this stage. Uploads are intentionally disabled until after conflict review and a portal invitation.

Stage 02

Conflict review

Before we discuss your matter, we check whether we can act. This is a professional judgement — the system helps organize the check, but a lawyer makes every decision.

  • We search names and known aliases against our records
  • Possible matches are surfaced for a lawyer to review
  • A conflict is never cleared automatically
  • We route your enquiry to proceed, ask for clarification, decline, or refer out

Please note: conflict screening is a careful workflow, not a guarantee that no conflict exists. Results are for our review and are not shared back to you.

Stage 03

Consultation

If the matter is suitable, we offer a time to talk it through and decide together whether to proceed.

  • We offer approved appointment times after the preliminary review
  • You receive confirmation, reminders, and easy reschedule or cancel links
  • We may send a short, safe information request to prepare
  • No relationship is formed simply by meeting
Stage 04

Written engagement

If we both decide to go ahead, we confirm the relationship in writing before any work begins.

  • We complete a final conflict review and confirm your identity
  • You receive an engagement letter setting out scope, terms and the responsible lawyer
  • If enabled for the participating firm, you sign through its approved e-signature workflow
  • We then open your matter and invite you to the secure client portal

Only now does a lawyer-client relationship exist, and only for the scope described in that letter.

Please read before you submit an enquiry

Submitting a request does not create a lawyer-client relationship. Do not include confidential information, urgent deadlines or detailed opposing-party information. The practice must complete a conflict check and confirm an engagement in writing before acting for you.

If we can't act

A clear non-engagement notice

Sometimes we decline a matter — because of a conflict, scope, or fit. When that happens, we tell you plainly.

We confirm in writing that we are not acting for you and will not protect any deadlines, so you can seek other counsel without delay. We never imply that another lawyer has accepted your matter.

Payment boundary

What you can pay online

Online payment is limited to completed, invoiced work. Retainers and trust funds are not accepted through this website.

Where a matter requires funds held in trust, in a live deployment the participating firm would provide its approved trust-payment instructions separately — those never move through this site's payment flow.

Ready to begin?

Send a short request. We'll run a preliminary conflict check and tell you honestly whether we can help.
